I also was surprised to find out the Dora Gee ended up renewing her contract in the show and went on to perform the role of Marta, the second to youngest child.

Thanks, that's a really interesting article. I don't understand why they chose to caption the "Lonely Goatherd" photo as follows:

On stage: Maria tells the children that if they listen carefully, they can hear Dora's mother singing along in the audience

That's not particularly funny, and a lot of people might think that it is serious! Strange choice for the article.

I was also surprised by how little they are paid!

I have the book! I bought it in England, very interesting reading.
Where does it say that she ended up renewing her contract in the show and went on to perform the role of Marta, the second to youngest child? It didn't say so in the book...

Strangely enough, I found this article on my own just about a week or two ago and became fascinated with her story. Yes, she did get the role of Marta. Her mom's website is lisagee.net and there is a blog where she talks about some of Dora's experiences in rejoining the Sound of Music as Marta.
