When he was in college, my Dad was an active member of a fraternity. Unlike most parents who would not want their children to join fraternities and sororities, my father was very supportive when I told him I want to join his organisation through their junior chapter in our school. I was still in high school then and the nature of the organisation is very much similar to that of the Girl Scouts so I thought joining would be easy.
